While fall temperatures may motivate some to spend more time indoors, at this time of year we are soaking up every minute outdoors doing our favorite activity: Planting!
While there are numerous advantages to planting in the fall, here are the three we find most compelling:
- Root Development Magic
Warm soil and decreasing daylight hours encourage robust root growth ensuring your garden will be well-established before winter and have the best chance of thriving in the spring. - Less Watering
Lower temperatures mean plants lose moisture more slowly and the ground retains more moisture, therefore, less watering is required to maintain plant health. - Reduced Competition from Weeds
Weed growth typically slows down in the fall, so your new flowers, shrubs, and trees will face less competition from weeds while they become established.
